Mr. Scott Peacock,
Principal

Mr. Peacock in the Great Outdoors
I
want to take this opportunity to say how much I love being part of the
Snohomish community and Centennial Middle School. I have been a
teacher and administrator in Snohomish for the past 12 years where my
wife, two boys and I live happily. It is my belief that the
commitment of staff, parents and community members in this district is
unmatched; this is reflected in the continued growth of our programs and
in the academic achievement of our students.
I also happen to feel
strongly that the primary mission of our school system, and CMS in
particular, is to embrace the potential of our students by finding
opportunities to support their growth as human beings. Building a
culture that values high academic achievement is one of the fundamental
ways we have of making it more likely that our students will leave us
better able to participate thoughtfully in our democracy. That
being said, we also have to find other ways through electives,
activities and creative instructional models to enrich students'
experiences, build relevance into their learning, and cultivate a sense
of respect that values the perspectives and needs of others. Hopefully,
at the end of 8th grade our students will leave CMS with a curiosity
that fuels a desire to engage in their world with respect and
compassion.
Sincerely,
Scott Peacock
