APA Bibliographic Style
What to call the bibliography page: Reference List
Place in order by: Alphabetical order by author’s names.
Some things to notice:
ü Most of the information you need is on the back of the title page.
ü Indent second line if the entire citation doesn’t fit on one line.
ü Only first initial of author is given.
ü Notice placement of parentheses and periods.
ü Capitalize only the first letter of the name of a book.
ü Type the name of the book in italics or underline if handwriting the bibliography.
Typical book citation:
Author’s last name, first
initial. (copyright date). Title of book. Publishing city: Publisher.

New

Article from a book with an editor instead of an author:
Editor’s
last name, first initial. (Ed.). (copyright date). Article title. In Title of
book. Publishing city: Publisher.

The H. W. Wilson Company.
Periodical (magazine or
newspaper):
Author’s last name, first
initial. (Publication date). Article title, Magazine name, volume (edition),
pages inclusive.

Encyclopedia (with author,
can be found at the end of the article)
