The Natural Sciences is the topic of the Dewey Numbers 500 – 599. There is a 500 section in both the regular checkout area and Reference area. During the project no books on invertebrates are available for checkout. |

Encyclopedias (Located in the Reference Section)
|
World Book Encyclopedia – Articles are arranged alphabetically. Encyclopedia Americana --Articles are arranged alphabetically. Encyclopedia Britannica –Located on the shelves under the windows. Must use the Index to locate the pages on which your animals can be found. The New Funk & Wagnall’s Illustrated Wildlife Encyclopedia – Contrary to what the title says, these books are not new, but very useful. Animals are listed alphabetically and there is an index in the last volume. The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Wildlife – Volumes 11 through 15 are dedicated to Invertebrates. Each book contains several classifications. Volume 15 also has the index. |

The Vertical File
|
The filing cabinets located just as you enter the non-fiction side of the library are the Vertical Files. Use the same kind of search terms you used for the catalog. The contents of each file can be removed, but please leave the folder in the drawer! Never open more than one drawer of a cabinet at a time! |
